River reject Colorado Rapids bid for Galarza Fonda, midfielder to stay in Núñez | OneFootball

River have rejected a bid from Colorado Rapids for Matías Galarza Fonda, and the midfielder will remain in Núñez despite not playing in 2026 under Marcelo Gallardo.

According to Radiogol.com, the MLS side tabled a concrete offer in January for the 23-year-old Paraguayan, but the board led by Stefano Di Carlo deemed it insufficient and quickly halted talks, with no further contact.

Galarza Fonda faces strong internal competition after an uneven first six months following his 2025 arrival. An error against Racing that led to River’s elimination sparked heavy criticism, and he has since sought to rebuild his form.

He has yet to feature at the start of the Torneo Apertura, but both club and player agree on continuing to work to regain his level and fight for a place in the side.

For now, there are no concrete prospects of a short-term exit.
