Gonna Fly Now: it's near impossible to take the 72 steps up to Museum of Art in Philadelphia without thinking of the legendary scene from the movie Rocky with Sylvester Stallone. It is probably the best-known spot in the major American city close to the East Coast, which doesn't always enjoy the best reputation due to urban degradation.
That should not take away from the fact that the city on the Delaware River has so much to offer. The Liberty Bell, for example, is closely connected to the story of American independence, while the art and cultural scene are particularly lively. A small side detail - the world-famous sandwich spread with the city's name is not from here, but from the state of New York, but was named after Philadelphia due to its tradition of cheesemaking. One thing that is definitely from here is the Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich – which may not be the healthiest option, but is definitely worth trying!
Let's get to sport. The offering in Philly is world class! Just like Washington, D. C., Philadelphia is represented in every major US league: the Phillies in baseball (MLB), 76ers in basketball (NBA), Flyers in ice hockey (NHL), Union in soccer (MLS) and Eagles in American Football (NFL).
The latter even won the Superbowl earlier this year - the famous final showdown of the NFL. The resulting title party brought over a million people onto the streets to celebrate Jalen Hurts & Co.!
Their home, the Lincoln Financial Field, will also host our clash against Real Madrid. While we have so far appeared in two MLS stadiums, we will now take to an NFL stadium - which will feature our biggest crowd at a World Cup match with a 67,000 sell-out. A hybrid pitch for soccer has been laid especially for the World Cup, with a total of eight matches in the tournament taking place here.
It is all set to be a thriller! We just ask all fans to look after themselves with heat of over 30 degrees Celsius expected. Helpful information on coming to the World Cup match can be found here:
We have at least one more World Cup match ahead of us when we face Real Madrid on Thursday evening in Philadelphia (21:00 local time, 03:00 Friday morning Austrian time). DAZN will broadcast that game, like all others at the Club World Cup, live and for free. No subscription is needed, just an account. The match can be seen in full length after the final whistle for those with a subscription.
Anyone wanting a different way to follow the match so late at night can follow live text updates on our website as well as the match report shortly after full-time. From 10:00 CEST Austrian time the following morning, there are also free RBS TV highlights of our matches!
