Portsmouth have completed the signing of forward Lucy Shepherd on a free transfer.

Pompey announced the news via a post on their official club website this evening.

The 27-year-old joins Portsmouth off the back of a spell playing her football in the American USL Super League with Dallas Trinity.

Shepherd is no stranger to Barclays WSL2 football. She started her senior career with London City Lionesses before spending a season with Blackburn Rovers. Shepherd joined American club Dallas Trinity in July 2024 and represented the club across two USL Super League seasons.

On the international stage, Shepherd represented England at various youth levels earlier in her career.

After adding Shepherd to his squad, Portsmouth manager Jay Sadler said “I’m absolutely delighted to welcome Lucy to the football club. She’s someone we’ve been keeping a close eye on during her time out in the States, especially given her previous experience at this level.

“She’s a hard-working forward with tremendous energy and real pace, which is exactly the kind of profile we look for. We’re confident she’ll be a great fit with the group off the pitch, and just as importantly, she really suits the way we want to play on it.

“I’m excited to start working with her, and hopefully she can hit the ground running with plenty of opportunities between now and the end of the season.”

Shepherd is Portsmouth’s first signing of the January transfer window.
