Ange Postecoglou is expected to take over as Nottingham Forest manager after Nuno Espirito Santo’s departure, according to The Athletic.
The 60-year-old will be in the dugout when Forest face Arsenal in the Premier League this weekend.
Postecoglou will bring several of his trusted assistants who previously worked with him at Tottenham Hotspur. He left Spurs in June after guiding them to Europa League success.
The Australian attracted interest from Al-Ahli this summer. Talks were held, but no agreement was reached.
Postecoglou gave Spurs their first major trophy in 17 years with victory over Manchester United in the Europa League final.
Despite the historic win, Tottenham’s domestic form collapsed as they finished 17th in the Premier League table.
Spurs recorded 22 league defeats, the highest number ever for a side that avoided relegation in a 38-game season.
That record prompted the club to part ways with their manager despite the European triumph.
Nuno had delivered a solid season for Forest before losing his job this week. He led the club to seventh place in the league and earned qualification for the Europa League.
Forest secured the European place following Crystal Palace’s drop to the Europa Conference League.
They have picked up four points from their opening three games this season and face a tough test at Arsenal after the international break.
Postecoglou will be eager to make his mark with Forest and demonstrate why Tottenham should have kept faith with him.
