Manchester United are hoping to offload Andre Onana before Monday’s transfer deadline but are in a race against the clock to do so.
Desperate times call for desperate measures, so much so that the club reportedly offered West Ham the chance to sign Onana on loan this week, to which the Irons ‘turned down’ the proposal, as per The Guardian.
United’s attempts to sanction the exit of the Cameroonian come after he was left out of Ruben Amorim’s starting XI for the first two Premier League fixtures of the campaign.
Onana returned for Wednesday’s Carabao Cup encounter away to Grimsby Town, but oversaw a calamitous display that ultimately contributed to the Reds getting knocked out in the second round.

Reports over the last week have suggested United have been actively pursuing a deal for Antwerp’s Senne Lammens. However, the situation has gone quiet in recent days, prompting some concern among fans that Lammens is now unlikely to make the switch.
Should that be the case, Amorim will be navigating the term, until at least January, with Onana, Altay Bayindir and 39-year-old Tom Heaton as his only options between the sticks.
Bayindir has been called upon in both PL outings thus far, and will presumably retain his place when the Reds host Burnley on Saturday afternoon.
Elsewhere on the market in the build-up to deadline day, United have agreed a £40 million deal with Chelsea for Alejandro Garnacho, as well as a £40 million loan plus buy obligation deal with Napoli for Rasmus Hojlund.
Tyrell Malacia is reportedly in talks with La Liga outfit Elche, and Antony is angling for his desired return to Real Betis.
