Wrexham welcome Coventry City to the STOK Cae Ras this Friday evening for Matchweek 13 of the Championship, with kick-off at 20:00 live on Sky Sports Football.
The hosts are looking to bounce back after a narrow 2-1 defeat to Cardiff City in the Carabao Cup. In the Championship, they sit 16th in the table with 14 points. Phil Parkinson’s side will be keen to get back to winning ways on home turf.
Coventry, by contrast, are flying high at the summit of the Championship. Frank Lampard’s team remain unbeaten in the league this season, most recently beating Watford 3-1, and will be looking to extend their impressive run when they make the trip to North Wales.
Craig Jones: Well, after a well-earned point away at Middlesbrough last weekend, the mood was was massively dampened on Tuesday night after we were dumped out of the Carabao Cup by Welsh rivals Cardiff City.
It was one of Wrexham's worst ever performances under Phil Parkinson and a lot of the crowd let their feelings known on the final whistle.
Things will need to improve drastically from that display this Friday night - and it doesn't get much tougher than Coventry City!
Frank Lampard's men are in superb form, winning their last six games, and scoring a huge amount of goals in the process.
This side is really clicking right now and are often blowing away any opposition that try to compete with them.
In Brandon Thomas-Asante they have the most in-form striker in the league, and he just can't stop scoring at present.
This will undoubtedly be a very tough game for Wrexham, but they do often raise their game when the underdog.
The players will surely have a point to prove and hopefully they can put on a performance under the lights at The Racecourse.
Team wise, Dom Hyam and Dan Scarr should return to the back three alongside Max Cleworth, after being rested on Tuesday.
I think we may see the same midfield three that started against Middlesbrough possibly, with O'Brien starting on the bench.
Ben Sheaf may come in against his former club though, but is an injury doubt again.
Whether Broadhead or Windass start with Kieffer Moore is a bit of an unknown as both struggled on Tuesday, but I think it might be Windass.
Hopefully Liberato Cacace will return to the squad to potentially replace Longman at left wing back.
I don't like predicting Wrexham to lose, and they may produce something wonderful, but we're facing a well-oiled sky blue machine!
Prediction: 1-2
Ross Cooper (SkyBlues Extra ): It is a Halloween/Hollywood match up for us next in the Championship as we take our unbeaten league run to Wales to face Wrexham.
This is going to be another very challenging game and quite simply we are going to need to be at our best in both boxes to give ourselves as good a opportunity of getting the win as possible.
We go into this game in unbelievable form, 6 wins in a row, top of the league, undefeated so far, scoring goals for fun and a pretty tight defence as well. Things are looking very very positive from a SkyBlue persepctive at the moment.
We just need to keep it going for as long as possible, because it is inevitable that we will lose a couple of games so we need to try and maximise our points return whilst we are performing at this level and there are no reasons why this game will be any different.
I think Frank Lampard may opt to change the formation for this game, given Wrexham's direct style and opt for a 3 at the back which he utilised successfully at Portsmouth a week or so ago. Milan Van Ewijk is suspended after picking up his 5th booking of the season and I think that will play a factor in us lining up with 3 Centre Backs and allowing Jay Dasilva and Kesler-Hayden, who will come in for the suspended Van Ewijk, license to really attack and get forward and support the attacking players who will be full of confidence.
The only caveat is Bobby Thomas being a potential doubt for the game, as well as Victor Torp, so we will have to wait and see when the team news comes out.
I would love to see us make it 7 wins in a row, but I don't think a point on the road to keep the unbeaten run going would be a bad result either to start this next 3 game week.
