PSG join elite club with six titles in a single year

Winning a “treble” is rare enough in football. Now imagine doubling it. That’s exactly what Paris Saint-Germain achieved in 2025, claiming six titles in a single year - a feat only Barcelona under Pep Guardiola managed back in 2009.

Bayern Munich could also be mentioned, though the pandemic played havoc in 2020. Their Club World Cup was pushed into the following year, so technically they couldn’t complete the “sixtuple crown” in the same calendar year - even though their accomplishments were just as impressive.

The six titles include the league, cup, and super cup, along with the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and Club World Cup. The key difference: Barcelona and Bayern won the main intercontinental tournament of their time, while PSG finished runner-up in the revamped, larger, and more competitive Club World Cup. Still, the scale of PSG’s achievement is undeniable.

Names for the History Books

2009 was a landmark year for football, cementing the legacies of Pep Guardiola and Lionel Messi. That Barcelona side dazzled with “Tiki-Taka” football, featuring legends like Xavi, Iniesta, Yaya Touré, Thierry Henry, and Samuel Eto'o.

In 2020, Bayern, under Hans-Dieter Flick (now at Barcelona), put on a display of sheer dominance. Robert Lewandowski led the charge, scoring 55 goals in 47 games during one of the best seasons of his career. Yet, due to the timing of the Club World Cup, the six titles weren’t technically won in the same calendar year.

Now PSG are making their mark with a brilliant collective: Nuno Mendes, Achraf Hakimi (who missed the Flamengo match), Vitinha, Kvaratskhelia, and Dembélé all shining under Luis Enrique. The Spaniard has already had success with Barcelona, but now he’s crafted a team capable of rewriting history, even if it’s not quite Guardiola’s 2009 masterpiece.
