Despite having been an important player for Hansi Flick during the last season, the forward Ferran Torres is facing quite an uncertain future at FC Barcelona. He has only a single year left on his contract, and has not yet received a renewal offer from the Blaugrana club, even though the Catalans have a policy of not going into a season with a player in his last year of contract.
A recent report suggested that Barcelona were waiting for the end of the transfer window to offer him his new contract, as a renewal before then would make it harder for them to register new players.
Meanwhile, the Spaniard is also being linked with a move away from the Blaugrana side, with Paris Saint-Germain having been linked with him quite strongly in recent days. Luis Enrique, with whom Ferran has already worked in the Spanish national team, particularly likes the forward and wants him in his team.
Now, SPORT cites Fabrizio Romano to report what plans the Parisians have regarding the Spanish attacker. The Ligue 1 side, already in contact with the player’s agents, is offering Ferran the role of the first substitute in attack, a role that was previously being played by Goncalo Ramos, who recently moved to AC Milan.
Keeping in view Ramos’ numbers under Enrique, Torres can expect to get around 15-25 minutes in bigger games, while his importance will be greater in league or domestic cup games. The Portuguese forward had played 30 league games last season, starting 13 of them, and accumulated 1309 minutes, in which he scored 6 goals. In the UCL, he played 202 minutes in 11 games, scoring 2 goals, but did not start any of the matches.
With his 16 goals in 33 La Liga games, Ferran Torres has a clearly better goalscoring record. Hansi Flick also sees him as an important player, and it remains to be seen whether this proposal from PSG would convince the forward to leave Barcelona this summer.
