Pulgar red card extends Flamengo’s 2026 dismissal tally | OneFootball

Erick Pulgar’s red card has extended Flamengo’s 2026 tally of dismissals to five, underlining a recent struggle to finish with 11 players.

According to Coluna Do Fla, Flamengo ended each of the past two Brasileirão rounds with 10 men, Evertton Araújo against Corinthians then Pulgar versus RB Bragantino.

Pulgar struck the back of an opponent’s head at Estádio Municipal Cícero de Souza Marques.

The club’s 2026 red cards have gone to Carbone against Volta Redonda, Jorginho against São Paulo, Carrascal against Corinthians, Evertton Araújo against Corinthians, and Pulgar against RB Bragantino.

Flamengo received seven reds across 2025, three shown to Gonzalo Plata, with CONMEBOL later acknowledging an error on one of those occasions.

Carrascal’s sending-off was among the more curious of this season, the foul came in the first half of the Supercopa Rei, but the red arrived after the interval. Evertton Araújo’s dismissal drew complaints after he played the ball then caught Breno Bidon’s foot in the 8th round.

Flamengo face Santos at the Maracanã on Sunday 05 at 17:30 Brasília time in the 10th round of the Brasileirão, with Pulgar suspended.
