Real Madrid have had some bad luck with injuries at the start of the new season, especially in the defensive department.

After losing Antonio Rudiger for a few months, the Merengues saw both their senior right-backs, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dani Carvajal, succumb to injuries.

In the case of Trent, who picked up his injury against Marseille last month, it was initially reported that he could be out for around six to eight weeks, putting his availability for El Clasico on 26 October under uncertainty.

Trent to return earlier than expected

But, there has been a positive development on that front in recent days as Trent could now return much earlier than anticipated initially.

Indeed, according to Fabrizio Romano (h/t Madrid Zone), the summer signing is now expected to be back in two weeks’ time.

Indeed, Real Madrid are confident that Trent will be able to make his comeback after the international break as his recovery has been progressing very well.

The goal is for the England international to be 100% fit for the Clasico against Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabeu on 26 October.

This comes as a positive boost for Real Madrid, considering that they have had to rely on the likes of Raul Asencio and Federico Valverde to fill in at right-back in Trent and Carvajal’s absence.

As for Carvajal, recent reports indicate that he, too, will be able to make his comeback from the calf injury in time to face Barcelona.

If so, it will be interesting to see who between Carvajal and Trent manager Xabi Alonso does go with at right-back in the first Clasico of the season.
