Real Madrid are staring at the prospect of going into Sunday’s game against Deportivo Alaves with only two fit and available defender – Antonio Rudiger and Raul Asencio.
After all, Alvaro Carreras and Fran Garcia are suspended after red cards vs Celta Vigo, while Ferland Mendy, Dani Carvajal, David Alaba, Eder Militao, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Dean Huijsen are all injured.
Xabi Alonso, thus, finds himself in a very difficult position ahead of the trip to Vitoria, especially with his job hanging in the balance.
However, there may be some good news for the Real Madrid manager as Javi Herraez of Carrusel reports that Huijsen could make his comeback for Alaves clash.
The 20-year-old centre-back has now missed five games in a row after finishing the drawn match against Elche with knee discomfort.

Even though the issue was said to be minor, the Spaniard has not featured against Olympiacos, Girona, Athletic Club, Celta Vigo, and Manchester City.
Real Madrid, for their part, are being cautious with Huijsen and have not set a specific return date so far.
But, as per the aforementioned report, the former AFC Bournemouth starlet could be ready in time to face Alaves on Sunday night.
Xabi Alonso named youngsters like Joan Martinez and Victor Valdepenas in the squad for the game against Manchester City, and could count on them again on Sunday to provide cover in defence.
But the Real Madrid head coach will hope to have Huijsen, one of his frontline defenders, back for the trip.
