Real Madrid’s electoral board has hit back at Enrique Riquelme’s assertions over access to the electoral roll and the security of postal votes. The club said in a statement that it rejected his remarks and issued seven clarifications.

First, the electoral roll has not been provided to any ticket contesting the election on seven June. Second, both candidacies received written guidance on how to send information, documents and material to members, and Riquelme was briefed in person when he lodged his bid.

Third, the published electoral rules, point two of the census section, set out that candidacies supply their material to the board and the club carries out the mailing. Fourth, the deadline to submit items was Monday one June at 18:00.

Fifth, there is strong concern over Riquelme’s comments casting suspicion on custody and security of postal voting. Candidacies that request it may appoint one accredited interventor to remain continuously near the access to the secure room where votes are kept, an area subject to the club’s surveillance systems and applicable video monitoring rules.

Sixth, any information, documents or material received by members via the club has been processed strictly in line with the procedure and regulations. Seventh, the rules are being applied rigorously throughout the process and respect is requested.
