With the appointment of Jose Mourinho just around the corner, Real Madrid are in for a big summer rebuild as the club looks to return to its lost glory next season.

Several players are expected to leave the club this summer, which could accentuate the need for reinforcements.

Real Madrid targeting four areas

According to Jorge Picon, Real Madrid are considering making some signings this summer, with the club identifying four positions to reinforce.

Their first priority is to bring in reinforcements in central defence, where the team has struggled with a lack of depth and injuries.

Real Madrid, in fact, are looking to sign two centre-backs this summer. They are also looking for a right-back, with Dani Carvajal on his way out.

Another position Real Madrid are looking to strengthen is midfield. With Eduardo Camavinga facing an uncertain future and Dani Ceballos also on his way out, signing a new midfielder could be the need of the hour.

Finally, Los Blancos are looking to bring in a new striker, although that falls among the least of the priorities at the moment, as the team focuses on defensive reinforcements.

Departures to be key

Picon adds that whether or not Real Madrid will be able to all these players will depend on player departures.

Carvajal and David Alaba are already on their way out of the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the season. But the club need more departures in order to generate the revenue required to fund these moves.

Camavinga is a potential candidate for a departure and the same can be said for Raul Asencio as well. Dani Ceballos, too, is in contention for a move away from the Bernabeu this summer.

If Real Madrid can sanction the sales of these unwanted stars, it could go a long way in helping the club sign new players.
