Following their bitter defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates on Tuesday, Real Madrid players showed up at Valdebebas today to start preparations for the challenges ahead.
The Spanish and European champions are set to play Deportivo Alaves in La Liga on Sunday evening, aiming to bounce back to winning ways after two consecutive losses.
Heading into Sunday’s contest in Vitoria, Real Madrid have been handed a boost as midfielder Dani Ceballos resumed training with the rest of the group today.
Indeed, the 27-year-old midfielder completed part of the training session inside the training facilities and part of the training session with the group, an official update from the club has confirmed.
The club posted an image on his social media to celebrate his return to training with the squad.
Ceballos has been out of action since late February, when he suffered an injury during the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final against Real Sociedad.
While it was initially expected that he could be out for a full two months, the midfielder’s recovery has progressed faster than initially anticipated.
Now, with Ceballos resuming training with the squad, he could be in line to make his comeback on the pitch when Real Madrid take on Alaves away from home this weekend.
Ceballos imminent return comes as a big boost for Los Blancos, who have struggled in the last two matches.
Prior to his injury, the Spaniard had been in terrific form and had become an integral part of Carlo Ancelotti’s tactical setup, providing the much-needed balance on the field. As such, his return, ahead of the must-win UCL second-leg tie vs. Arsenal will be a big positive.
