Trent Alexander-Arnold is Real Madrid’s top right-back target heading into the upcoming summer transfer window. Yet, that does not deter the club from maintaining tabs on other young options.
Chelsea’s Josh Acheampong is one player who has caught the Merengues’ interest in the past as a highly rated protege and possibly a long-term signing although that option has now taken a blow.
Two months ago, the youngster was frozen out of action by Chelsea in an effort to coerce him to agree on a contract renewal and there is now an update, albeit not a positive one for Real Madrid.
As relayed on Chelsea’s official networks via AS, Acheampong has agreed to renew at Stamford Bridge and has signed his new contract.

The new deal sees the right-back obligated to the Blues until 2029, an extension of four and a half years. Needless to say, this closes all doors to a departure.
The player feels comfortable in London and is convinced he can play a big role in the long term, especially after making his debut for Chelsea in the UEFA Conference League.
Real Madrid’s chances of signing the youngster thus take a massive blow now and the long-term deal rules out any chances that Los Blancos’ had.
Notably, clubs including Liverpool, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, PSG, and Borussia Dortmund were also in the race.
As mentioned earlier, Real Madrid remain on the lookout for reinforcements at right-back for the summer of 2025, with Liverpool ace Trent Alexander-Arnold being their primary target.
