A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid was forced into a premature departure from the club’s latest outing.

That’s according to Blancos insider Mario Cortegana, who points towards David Alaba as the player in question.

Stopper Alaba was for his part a somewhat surprising inclusion in Real Madrid’s starting XI this evening.

This came after Xabi Alonso’s troops made the short trip across Spain’s capital for a La Liga meeting with Getafe.

Upon the two sides reemerging for the 2nd-half, however, the Austrian was nowhere to be seen.

This came as Alaba was replaced in the visitors’ backline by Raúl Asencio.

And as alluded to above, amid the ongoing action at the Estadio Coliseum, an explanation for precisely why has since been forthcoming.

‘Alaba has a slight overload in his right leg. Doesn’t seem something serious, according to the club.’
