Real Madrid decided to splash the cash on quite a few key pieces in this summer transfer period. Los Blancos managed to sign Dean Huijsen, Alvaro Carreras, Franco Mastantuono and Trent Alexander-Arnold this off-season.

Huijsen signed from Bournemouth in a deal worth €62.50m. The 20-year-old has already managed to nail down a regular starting spot at Real Madrid.

Despite his young age, the Spanish centre-back is expected to be one of the top performers in Xabi Alonso’s first team this season.

Alvaro Carreras

Carreras joined Los Blancos from Benfica for €50m. He is currently Alonso’s first-choice for the left-back position.

The 22-year-old is good enough to establish himself as a consistent performer for the Madrid giants this season.

Franco Mastantuono

The 18-year-old arrived from River Plate for €45m. Mastantuono is expected to have a bright future at the Madrid club.

Alonso might use him as a substitute more often this season. He is a player to look out for in the future.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Real Madrid signed Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool in a deal worth €10m. He is arguably Alonso’s marquee signing of this summer.

Alexander-Arnold made 354 appearances for his previous club Liverpool, registering 23 goals and securing 92 assists in all competitions. He has got a wealth of experience at the highest level and is more than capable of competing with Dani Carvajal for a regular first-team spot at the Madrid club this season.

Despite an underwhelming start to his Real Madrid career, Alexander-Arnold is expected to have a strong season at the Bernabeu.

Has It Been A Good Summer For Real Madrid Boss Xabi Alonso?

Alonso managed to make a few key additions to his squad this summer. Dean Huijsen, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alvaro Carreras are all expected to be regulars in his first team this season. Los Blancos have also invested for the long run by signing Mastantuono, who is a star in the making.

All in all, it has been a good summer for Alonso. However, only time will tell whether the Real Madrid boss has done enough to win the La Liga title and compete for the UEFA Champions League trophy this season.
