Real Sociedad are making the dying minutes count, with two last-gasp results in the past week.

According to AS, they beat Getafe after Aramburu struck in the 95th minute in LaLiga, then on Wednesday Zubeldia equalised at 92 against Osasuna in the Copa del Rey last 16, forcing extra time and a penalty shootout they won.

It has been a season-long pattern, with points and progress salvaged late, including Soler at 89 against Celta at Balaídos in LaLiga, 1-1, Oyarzabal from the spot at the same minute at Elche in the Martínez Valero, 1-1, and Pablo Marín at 95 against Eldense in the cup, 1-2.

The derby with Athletic Club at Anoeta carried the same drama, Gorrotxategi making it 3-2 in the 92nd minute.

There has been pain too. Levante levelled at 94 for 1-1 in a match led by Ion Ansotegi after Sergio Francisco’s dismissal. Villarreal then won with a Moleiro goal at 95, which ruined a prior comeback by the Guipuzcoans, and Rayo Vallecano took three points at Anoeta with an 84th-minute strike.

Even so, the balance of these wild finishes favours the side now coached by Pellegrino Matarazzo, who seem most effective late on.
