Mikel Oyarzabal led Real Sociedad through a downpour at Anoeta, striking from distance as 10-man La Real secured the points against Celta.
As reported by AS, Álex Remiro made key saves, and Jon Aramburu blocked an early effort bound for an empty net. The sodden pitch curbed width, yet Gonçalo Guedes pressed well before going off on 69.
Jon Martín lost Borja for Celta’s goal but was otherwise steady. Duje Caleta-Car was sent off via VAR before the break and will miss the derby with Athletic. Aihen Muñoz covered for the unwell Sergio Gómez and coped.
Beñat Gorrotxategi and Beñat Turrientes formed an effective double pivot, progressing play, though Gorrotxategi’s errors went unpunished. Backed by Matarazzo, Turrientes found captain Oyarzabal after pouncing when Ilaix slipped, yet was a surprise withdrawal at the interval.
Luka Sučić produced his best spell of the season, attacked the box, was booked and came off on 80. Ander Barrenetxea was the half-time sacrifice after the red card, having delivered promising crosses.
Oyarzabal marked becoming the club’s 11th most-used player with two left-footed strikes, one in each half. He set the tempo, worked tirelessly and now has seven LaLiga goals, leaving on 85 to an ovation.
From the bench, Igor Zubeldia played the second half and helped see it out. Pablo Marín battled, and Brais Méndez buried the spot-kick against his former club for breathing space.
