According to Sunderland Echo, Régis Le Bris is encouraged by Enzo Le Fée’s early pre-season goals and believes they underline his potential influence for Sunderland in 2026/27.

Le Fée struck from long range against Liverpool in a 4-2 defeat at the weekend, having opened the summer with a brace at York City a week earlier. The 26-year-old looked a greater open-play threat after returning to his preferred central role late last season.

Le Bris says there is no doubt about the midfielder’s creativity and his ability to link with team-mates, and that the connections with the centre backs and others are improving. He thinks more decisiveness in front of goal could elevate Le Fée further.

After an open training session for supporters on Sunday, Sunderland’s US tour now moves to New Jersey to face Leeds United.

The squad will be bolstered by the returns of Noah Sadiki, Habib Diarra, Robin Roefs, Brian Brobbey, Arthur Masuaku and Simon Adingra following their World Cup commitments. Le Bris believes those who featured in the first two games have set the standard, and says the returning players must now connect with a core that is ready, with their World Cup experience likely to prove useful for their future.
