Reinaldo Carneiro Bastos, president of the Federação Paulista de Futebol, is a target of a São Paulo prosecutors’ inquiry into alleged fraudulent management, ideological falsehood and money laundering at the state association. Estadão first reported the case.
The probe is handled by the 23rd Police District in Perdizes and has gone to the Judicial Police Department for further steps. It covers offences under the law on crimes against the national financial system and against the tax order. The federation is listed as the victim.
The inquiry is examining a R$ 15.5 million sale of a cleaning-services company said to involve Bastos. Of that sum, R$ 11.5 million was allegedly paid in cash, described as atypical and incompatible with ordinary commercial practice.
Bastos denied the accusations, saying he has never been paid in cash and that the Milclean deal was settled by bank transfer over 60 months and declared to tax authorities. He added he has never faced a criminal case.
He also accused would-be challenger Wilson Marqueti Júnior of trying to sway the 25 March ballot with calumnious denunciations. He said he will sue over the claims.
The vote will choose the president for 2027 to 2030. Bastos has led the body since 2015 after Marco Polo Del Nero became CBF president. He is seeking re-election to what could be a fourth and final term, while opponents work to field a rival.
