PSG have shown a clear focus on recruiting top French talent in recent transfer windows, bringing in players like Bradley Barcola, Désiré Doué, and Lucas Chevalier.
That approach looks set to continue as the club aims to bolster its defense. While Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté has been linked, PSG could also be targeting another high-profile French defender.
Bayern Munich’s Dayot Upamecano, under contract through the 2025–26 season, has reportedly drawn serious interest from PSG. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently reported that PSG are monitoring Dayot Upamecano.
Romano added that Upamecano could move to the club in the summer of 2026 if he decides against extending his Bayern Munich contract, making a free transfer possible.
Nonetheless, should Upamecano be available next summer, PSG might see him as a key addition, though landing him could be challenging with several elite clubs also in the mix.

However, any hopes of landing the Frenchman might be facing a setback. Foot Mercato reports that Real Madrid and Upamecano have reached a verbal agreement, putting the Spanish club in the lead to secure the defender.
The 27-year-old will become a free agent this summer if he does not extend his contract with Bayern.
This news comes after Sky Sport Germany reported that Bayern Munich director of sport Max Eberl confirmed the club will do everything possible to secure a contract extension for Upamecano.
With his contract expiring at the end of the season, the defender has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea.
Furthermore, Upamecano is reportedly seeking a renewal fee of about €20 million. Cadena SER adds that Real Madrid could convert that fee into a signing bonus, potentially bringing the defender to the club to form a strong trio with Eder Militao and Dean Huijsen.
