New Roma boss Gian Piero Gasperini looks determined to rival Inter Milan for the signing of Palmeiras star Richard Rios.

Per Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, Gasperini has identified the 25-year-old as his top midfield target.

Despite keeping Atalanta’s Ederson in the highest regard, Inter are keeping close tabs on other targets.

Richard Rios is among several profiles considered by the Nerazzurri amid Hakan Calhanoglu’s anticipated departure.

However, the San Siro club may face stiff competition from Roma, who seem willing to pay €30 million for his services.

Rios has gone from strength to strength since swapping Guarani for Palmeiras in 2023.

Indeed, he has earned a reputation as one of the most reliable midfielders in South America.

Furthermore, the ex-Flamengo ace has become a permanent fixture in Colombia’s national team.

As such, a big-money transfer to Europe looks like a natural next step.

Though linked with Inter, Rios could end up in Serie A, albeit in different colors.

Gasperini has earmarked him as an ideal midfield reinforcements and has already urged Roma to pursue his signature.
