Juan Román Riquelme is weighing a plan to let non-members return to La Bombonera by staging pre-season friendlies. The Boca Juniors president wants all supporters to have the chance to attend, regardless of membership.
According to LaNumer12.com.ar, the board is exploring two home friendlies that could open the doors to those without membership. Attending league games is difficult, with around six times more members than the stadium can hold.
Non-members cannot buy single tickets as in the past. Their only route is when a member purchases an “abono solidario” in the platea for themselves and a guest, often at a steep cost.
The friendlies could be played on two consecutive Saturdays, 10 January and 20 January. The first official match is set for Sunday 25 at home to Deportivo Riestra.
Club officials are discussing the plan with security authorities, considering potential opponents, and would leave organisation to a private company, the same that runs the Torneo de Verano.
The transfer window opens on Wednesday 14 January. Boca are seeking one signing per line, a defender, a midfielder and a forward, with Miguel Borja seen as unlikely, hopes around Paulo Dybala remain, Marcelo Delgado named Marino Hinestroza, and Alan Lescano is on the list.
