Wolves are planning a major summer rebuild, with Rob Edwards prioritising experience and leadership after a season he feels lacked both.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, the club have agreed a two-year deal with 35-year-old Kieran Tripper, with an option of a third year, subject to a medical and final paperwork, and view him as someone who will hold team-mates to account.
Edwards said experience and leadership had been missing this season, but stressed leaders do not have to be in their thirties and that younger players with know-how in English football can lead too.
He cited Mane as a different kind of leader and added that age is just a number, the focus is on the right character to fill a clear void.
Wolves have also tied Andre to a new deal, and there have been talks over a return for Raul Jimenez after his Fulham contract expired.
Those early steps have drawn praise from large sections of the fan base following relegation. Despite criticism late in the campaign, Edwards is set to oversee the rebuild. He said he is energised, looking forward to the change required, and expects some players to stay alongside new arrivals.
