Rob Edwards says Wolves are prioritising character, experience and leadership in their recruitment, with a move progressing for Kieran Tripper. According to ExpressAndStar.com, the club have agreed a two-year contract with the 35-year-old, with an option of a third, subject to a medical and the paperwork being completed.
Wolves want a figure who can demand standards, addressing an area that went uncorrected last summer. Edwards emphasised the focus is on the right person rather than age.
He reflected that the team missed experience and leadership this season, and said younger players with strong knowledge of English football can also lead. He pointed to Mane as a different type of leader and reiterated that age is just a number.
Wolves have also secured Andre on a new deal. There have been talks over bringing Raul Jimenez back to Molineux following the expiry of his Fulham contract, and early moves have drawn praise from many supporters after relegation.
Edwards accepted criticism late in the campaign but is expected to oversee the summer rebuild. He said he feels energised despite the negativity and wants to be part of the change required, adding that some players will remain while new faces will arrive.
