Roberto De Zerbi is now said to be open to taking the Tottenham job immediately, with talks over a five-year deal expected, Sky Italy reports.

Spurs had been keen to bring in former Brighton and Marseille boss De Zerbi, but it was thought he would not return until next season after his Marseille exit in February.

Tottenham looked to ex-Juventus boss Igor Tudor after sacking Thomas Frank, then on Sunday announced Tudor had left by mutual consent after taking one point from his brief spell.

Their last match before the March international break ended in a 3-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest.

Tottenham are fourth-bottom, one point above the drop zone and three behind 15th-placed Leeds United.
