Donyell Malen looks set to make his Roma loan permanent. Voetbal International reports the Italian club have exercised a €25m option to buy, adding it is almost certain the forward will stay.

The 27-year-old forward joined Aston Villa from Borussia Dortmund in January last year and enjoyed a decent spell under Unai Emery.

Despite scoring seven times this season, he left Villa Park a year on from his arrival to join Roma on loan, with the purchase clause included.

Malen has thrived in Serie A and the Europa League, scoring 12 goals and helping Roma return to the Champions League.

A permanent move would end his Villa stay after a single season.
