Roma are one point from activating the obligation to buy in Daniele Ghilardi’s deal, a step that would deliver a modest windfall to Hellas Verona and Fiorentina.
Calciomercato.com reports that the clause will be triggered by the first point Roma collect in February. That could come on Monday evening, provided Gian Piero Gasperini’s side avoid defeat at home to Cagliari in Serie A, with kick-off at 19.45 GMT.
The 23-year-old arrived in the summer on loan with a potential obligation to buy. He has had limited chances but has started in four of the last five league rounds.
Roma paid a reported €2.5m loan fee and would owe a further €8m, plus up to €1m in bonuses, if the move becomes permanent.
If the transfer is made permanent, Verona and Fiorentina will receive €4m each, plus up to €500,000 apiece in bonuses, and they also split the €2.5m loan fee equally.
