Kobbie Mainoo has ‘agreed all terms’ of his new contract with Manchester United after months of ongoing negotiations.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed in a ‘breaking’ update this afternoon that the midfield starlet, who’s valued at £44 million by Transfermarkt, will put pen to paper on a deal until June 2031.

Mainoo ready to commit long-term future to boyhood club

Everything will be set in stone before the culmination of the term in May, and there’s a chance he could even sign this week.

Mainoo will see his salary bumped to accurately reflect his integral role in the first team; it’s thought he currently pockets around £25,000 per week (Capology) since making the transition from the academy to the senior side.

The 21-year-old is also expected to make Thomas Tuchel’s final World Cup squad in the coming weeks, so you can understand United wanting to have everything finalised before he jets off to represent England at what would be his second major international tournament.

How Mainoo fared in his last outing

Last night, Mainoo oversaw yet another scintillating display in the middle of the park as the Reds claimed a vital 2-1 win over Brentford.

He was unlucky to miss out on the Player of the Match award, which was claimed by the opening goalscorer and his seasoned counterpart Casemiro, as Mainoo certainly did his bit to get the victory over the line.

According to Fotmob, the youngster made four final-third passes, had three touches in the opposition’s box and recorded three successful dribbles.

Defensively, he made five recoveries, four tackles, two interceptions, one block and one clearance. He was also not dribbled past once in his 90-minute shift.

The Old Trafford faithful will be hoping Mainoo can replicate such a five-star showing for the visit of arch-rivals Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.
