Liam Roseniro has arrived for his press conference after Chelsea’s humiliating defeat against Everton – buckle up.
The manager was first asked about what he made of the game. After three defeats in a row the coach has been promising improvement, but as he admitted, this was the opposite:
“It was the most disappointing evening so far. In terms of the things we spoke about, not gifting goals away, getting control of the game – it wasn’t there,” the manager said.
“For me, we arrived in the final third a lot. We had an edgy start and then managed to gain control of the game but we weren’t clinical enough. Out of nowhere, they score – and that’s not the first time that has happened. We came out in the second half, had control of the game and made a mistake and we were 2-0 down.”
It’s just more of the same – blaming mistakes after every game. It’s true that that’s why we lose games – we make mistakes that dig us into holes we can’t get out of.
But just putting it down to “mistakes” doesn’t actually address whatever is causing those mistakes.
Robert Sanchez’s mistake cost Chelsea the crucial second goal in this game, yet more dreadful play from our goalkeepers.
Conceding in the first half meant Chelsea are now 15 games without a clean sheet. That would be unacceptable for a team on half our budget.
