Ruben Amorim faces an uncertain future at Manchester United due to his strained relationship with the club’s director of football Jason Wilcox, per the Guardian

Amorim believed the club’s hierarchy would back him in the winter transfer window if a major signing became available.

However, they are reportedly unwilling to do that, which has angered Amorim.

United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe previously stated that Amorim would be given three years to prove himself.

But there are now reservations within the hierarchy regarding the former Sporting CP boss.

Amorim’s comments after Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Leeds United have further strained relations.

The 40-year-old claimed he wanted to be the club’s manager and not just the coach. He also said he may move on when his contract expires in 18 months.

Amorim joined United in November 2024 and led them to a 15th-place Premier League finish.

The Red Devils spent over £200 million to sign Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and Senne Lammens last summer.

While United’s performances have improved this season, a single win from their last five matches has left them sixth in the standings

They drew 1-1 at Leeds United on Saturday, with Cunha scoring the equaliser three minutes after Brendan Aaronson’s goal in the second half.
