Benfica and NOS have agreed a two-season renewal of the club’s audiovisual rights, worth more than 100 million euros to the SAD, equating to more than 50 million per season.
Record writes that the extension will take effect in 2026/27, ahead of the centralisation of television rights. Benfica prolongs a partnership that began in 2016/17, keeping the operator as its principal partner in the exploitation of its audiovisual rights.
Rui Costa, who is in negotiations to sell Andreas Schjelderup, had publicly targeted about 70 million euros per year for this type of contract. The agreement sits within the SAD’s wider strategy to reach 500 million euros in annual revenue.
NOS has been Benfica’s priority interlocutor given the existing deal, although exploratory contacts with other entities took place over the past two years. The current contract, valid until 30 June, guarantees a total of 400 million euros, which the SAD aimed to bolster with this renewal.
One of the club’s most sensitive dossiers is now settled. Official confirmation is expected next week at a dedicated event, closing a strategic process crucial for the club’s financial stability.
