Sam Allardyce’s tongue-in-cheek Downing Street post went viral after Sir Keir Starmer said he would quit as Prime Minister, highlighting the ex-Leeds United manager’s growing online presence.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Allardyce shared a photoshopped image of himself at a lectern outside 10 Downing Street with the caption: “Before anyone asks...no.” The post drew 97,000 likes and 60,000 forwards, and he now has just shy of 100,000 Instagram followers.

The veteran was hired by Leeds in 2023 with four games left after Javi Gracia was sacked, having replaced Jesse Marsch. Defeats to Man City, West Ham and Tottenham left Leeds 19th and relegated.

Since then he has fronted his No Tippy Tappy Football podcast, often referencing Leeds. Former Leeds attacker Robert Snodgrass, Allardyce’s first signing at West Brom, replied that he should do it until the end of the year, addressing him as Gaffa.
