Success throughout the club is important for Aston Villa. The U18s pulled out an incredible win against their Manchester United counterparts during the FA Youth Cup. After being tied at one apiece, the match needed penalties to decide this one.

In what can be something of a cruel twist of fate, it often takes someone stepping up to deliver a win during pens. It was Sam Proctor who proved to be the hero on the day. Keepers are left on an island. With the penalty taker expected to convert, the man in between the posts is always at a decided disadvantage.

During the shootout, however, it was the ManU players who appeared to be struggling. The Villa keeper had the upper hand. He had a tremendous amount of confidence and even managed to outright catch an attempt. Although he officially saved two shots during the shootout, even the one that was wide of the mark looked covered by Proctor.

His tremendous performance sent the younger Aston Villa team to the FA Youth Cup final. The efforts in goal resulted in a 3-1 win during the shootout, and they will now wait for the winner of Watford and Manchester City. Jimmy Shan's side will have something of an advantage, regardless of who ends up meeting up in the final itself.

Youth trophy for Aston Villa on the horizon

Prior to the latest semi-final fixture, the draw determined that the ManU-Villa winner would play host for the final itself. Villa Park will play host to the game as the hosts will attempt to win their fifth FA Youth Cup in the club's history.
