Santos players, led by Neymar, have confronted president Marcelo Teixeira over the frequent presence of individuals without formal roles at CT Rei Pelé. According to Diario Do Peixe, it reached a flashpoint this week, with Neymar addressing Teixeira directly.

The squad are unhappy about associates of the president circulating at training, backstage and on trips despite holding no official positions.

In the players’ view, only Teixeira, vice president Fernando Bonavides, CT staff, Management Committee members Junior Bozzella, Daniels Alves and Luiz Colombo, and football chiefs Alexandre Mattos and Gustavo Ferreira should be routinely present.

The group back head coach Juan Pablo Vojvoda, yet believe some figures act against his staff, and concerns over privacy and leaks of internal information have added strain. A meeting this week also brought complaints towards executive Alexandre Mattos, viewed by part of the group as difficult day to day.

Mattos formally took charge on five June 2025 on a deal running to the end of Teixeira’s term in 2026. He oversaw the arrivals of Mayke, Lautaro Díaz, Alexis Duarte, Adonis Frías, Willian Arão, Igor Vinícius, Gabriel Menino and Rony, plus criticised moves for Billal Brahimi and Gustavo Caballero, both now out of the squad.

Other deals came via different routes. Gabriel Barbosa had long been a Teixeira target, with Mattos leading talks. Moisés was recommended by Vojvoda after their time at Fortaleza, while Christian Oliva, not yet announced, was approved by staff after a scouting suggestion and relied on a transfer ban lifted on Wednesday.
