The club had agreed a three-year contract with the midfielder, but talks cooled amid unease within the board.

Executives believe new arrivals must handle the daily pressure differently, particularly after recent protests by supporters.

In 2026, Santos announced the signings of Gabigol, Gabriel Menino and Rony, and a deal for Moisés of Fortaleza could be confirmed in the coming days.
