Gabriel Brazão has obtained a stay of his suspension and is available for Santos against Vitória at Vila Belmiro on Saturday at 20:00 in the 18th round of the Brasileirão. According to Diario Do Peixe, the goalkeeper was given a four-match ban and a R$ 4,000 fine by the STJD’s third Disciplinary Commission in a Friday hearing.
Santos’ legal department secured the temporary measure for this fixture, after which he will have to serve the suspension.
Brazão was cited over remarks about referee Raphael Claus following the 1-1 draw with Palmeiras at Allianz Parque in the 14th round on 2 May. He also referenced the yellow card he received in the 32nd minute of the first half.
Defence lawyer Marcelo Mendes argued the comments were criticism rather than an offence, made in the mixed zone where players are required to speak to the media, and sought full acquittal.
The reporting auditor Rafael Bozzano ruled that implying a referee’s decisions are systematically swayed by the home team is an accusation of partiality, not legitimate sporting critique, and that the conduct fell under Article 243-F of the CBJD. The article allows fines from R$ 100 to R$ 100,000 and bans of one to six matches, with a minimum of four when directed at match officials by athletes or staff.
Commission president Adriene Hassen and auditor Marina Volpato backed the relator’s vote, while José Maria Philomeno and George Ramalho dissented and voted to acquit the player.
