Santos believe the mood inside the club has improved since Cuca took charge, fostering optimism about a recovery.
Diario Do Peixe reports that although the atmosphere under Juan Pablo Vojvoda was considered good, it was highly professional and at times impersonal, leaving little room for levity. Cuca has, by contrast, created a lighter, more personal workplace.
His debut yielded a 0-0 draw with Cruzeiro at the Mineirão on Sunday 22, in the eighth round. He restored centre-back Lucas Veríssimo to the starting line-up and the defender impressed.
Cuca has also reinstated midfielder Tomás Rincón and is expected to give the Venezuelan more chances. Well liked in the squad, he returned after two months and featured in Belo Horizonte.
With close to a full week from the international window, the club believe Cuca will have time to refine the team and rebuild confidence. Santos are out of the relegation zone, 16th with seven points.
They have not won for a month, recording one victory in the Brasileiro alongside four draws and three defeats, with 10 scored and 13 conceded.
Next up, Peixe host Remo on Thursday 02 at 19:00 at Vila Belmiro, then face Flamengo on Sunday 05 at the Mineirão. April also brings starts in the Sudamericana and Copa do Brasil.
