São Paulo have moved to extend Marcos Antônio’s contract as Flamengo step up their pursuit of the midfielder.
According to ESPN, the current deal runs to June 2026 and the new terms would keep him until the end of 2030, with a domestic release clause of R$ 900 million and an overseas clause of 100 million euros, around R$ 613 million.
After signing Lucas Paquetá, Flamengo offered 7.5 million euros, R$ 46.5 million, and the inclusion of Allan. São Paulo rejected the proposal.
Flamengo had also targeted Marcos Antônio in 2024 while he was at Lazio. Talks did not produce an agreement, and he later joined São Paulo on loan.
Performance-related targets from that loan obliged São Paulo to buy him, with the club paying 4.2 million euros, R$ 26 million, to make the move permanent.
Flamengo now turn back to the Campeonato Carioca, visiting Madureira on Sunday 22 at 20:30, Brasília time, at the Maracanã in the first leg of the semi-final.
