Scotland suffered the first defeat of their 2026 World Cup campaign on Friday night as they were edged out 1-0 by Morocco. The deciding goal came early in the evening, with Ismael Saibari lacing a rocket past Angus Gunn with just 71 seconds played, and Scotland never quite responded. After a turgid first period, the Scots were much improved after the break but still struggled to break down their opposition, the champions of Africa.

Clarke made proactive changes in the second half, introducing Ben Gannon-Doak off the bench alongside Lyndon Dykes and Kenny McLean, but the goals would not come despite the match momentum swinging firmly in Scotland’s favour.
