Serge Gnabry’s athletic renaissance continues. The Bayern Munich professional continues to excel in his new tactical role as a ten. Deputizing for the injured Jamal Musiala in the ten, Gnabry has gotten his name on the scoresheet in all three of his Bundesliga starts thus far this season. The opening goal in Saturday night’s 5-0 rout of Hamburg brought Gnabry’s totals for the young season up to two goals and two assists in three appearances.
A return to the German national team is surely in the cards for the now 30-year-old if he can keep this form up. Gnabry benefits from the full backing of FCB head coach Vincent Kompany. The fact that the Stuttgart-native has world class colleagues such as Harry Kane, Michael Olise, and Luis Diaz working with him doesn’t hurt either. Gnabry was sure to make reference to his trio of teammates in his post-match interview with Sky Germany.
“The ball just flows among us,” Gnabry told Sky after the match. “We have an intuitive understanding amongst ourselves up front. I’m enjoying the current phase we’re in. Things are going well with the team and it’s great fun. In all honesty, nothing’s really changed with me. I’m still training in the same way. I’m fit. I’m feeling good and my confidence is growing.“
