Hull City boss Sergej Jakirovic has backed Leeds United’s £34m move for Tarik Muharemovic, calling the centre-back a strong fit for Daniel Farke’s side.
The 23-year-old has joined from Sassuolo on a five-year deal, with Leeds committing their second-highest fee to replace outgoing Pascal Struijk.
“He's a very good player. He had a very good season in Sassuolo.” He told The Yorkshire Post.
“There was a lot of interest about him from a lot of big names. He's a left-footed centre-back, a national team player, and Bosnia has played a good World Cup.”
“It will be a good profile for Leeds. He grew up in Austria so he speaks German and they [Leeds] have coaches from Germany. so I think he will adapt very well.”
Muharemovic is on post-World Cup leave after visiting Elland Road last week, and is likely to link up mid-way through the US tour. Leeds visit Hull on 30 December, with the return at Elland Road on 3 March.
“As a player I will give everything for this club. I will give everything every game, I just want to win,” he told LUTV after signing last week.
