Marcus Thuram and Mike Maignan are only ninth among Serie A’s French earners, with Maxence Caqueret the surprise name.

According to L'Équipe, it takes until ninth to find a Frenchman this season, with 29 in Serie A including seven internationals. The Decreto Crescita, a favourable tax regime for foreign arrivals launched in 2019, was abolished in 2024.

Thuram at Inter and Maignan, extended with Milan to 2031, still benefit. Their net pay exceeds Christopher Nkunku and Adrien Rabiot, though the gross is lower. Milan also run a 5 M€ net cap, partly offset by bonuses up to 2 M€.

Italy’s top five monthly gross earners are Dusan Vlahovic on 1 850 000€, Lautaro Martinez 1 390 000€, Paulo Dybala 1 080 000€, Nicolo Barella 1 000 000€, Hakan Calhanoglu 930 000€. Jonathan David and Kevin De Bruyne are also on 930 000€.

Caqueret is fourth among French earners, ahead of Maignan. On 6,67 M€ a year, he is near the league’s top 20 despite not being an automatic starter at Como, a newly rich club and a contender for a historic Champions League place.

Only Alvaro Morata earns more at Como, 690 000€ gross per month. Como are among six clubs in the top 20 with Inter, Juventus, Napoli, Milan and Roma, and those six also occupy Serie A’s top six.

Among coaches, the top three monthly gross earners are Antonio Conte at Napoli on 1 300 000€, then Massimiliano Allegri at AC Milan and Gian Piero Gasperini at Roma on 800 000€.
