Real Madrid’s promising forward Gonzalo Garcia has once again caught the eye of Spain’s U-21 national team, with coach David Gordo showering him with praise after announcing his squad.

The 21-year-old has been called up for the upcoming U21 matches against Norway and Finland, scheduled for October 10 and October 14, respectively.

Gordo was quick to highlight Gonzalo’s talent and importance to the squad.

“We’re not going to forget Gonzalo. He’s shown he has the quality and ability to be in the U-21 team and be an important player,” he said as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

“It is good for us and for him to be able to enjoy playing time, and I’m sure he’ll do very well,” the coach said.

A rising star for Real Madrid and Spain

Gonzalo Garcia has been steadily making a name for himself as a youth international. He represented Spain U19 at the 2023 UEFA European Under-19 Championship, showcasing his skill on an international stage.

His rise continued in August 2025 when he earned his first call-up to the Spain U21 team for the 2027 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifiers against Cyprus and Kosovo.

He started in both matches, demonstrating the trust coaches have in his abilities.

For Real Madrid, Gonzalo’s development is a positive sign for the club’s future. The forward has consistently impressed with his work rate, technical ability, and adaptability on the pitch, especially at the FIFA Club World Cup.

His performances with the U21s will not only boost his confidence but also underline why he is considered one of the brightest young talents at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Interestingly, if he performs well, he can reignite the debate regarding his appearance in the Spanish national team.

His exploits at the Club World Cup already earned him praise, but lack for minutes in La Liga prevented him from making it to Luis de la Fuente’s squad last month.
