Rodrigo Zalazar converted a penalty in the sixth minute of second half stoppage time to earn Braga a 2-2 draw against Sporting CP.
In the 34th minute, the Uruguay midfielder slipped a precise pass into the box for Ricardo Horta to sweep home, capping his side's best first half move.
After the restart he kept forcing the issue. A drive from distance was blocked (60.). He then swung in a teasing cross that Víctor Gómez met, drawing a low save from Rui Silva (75.). Another effort from range was charged down as pressure mounted (77.).
Zalazar's end product and control told. He finished with three attempts, three key passes and eight possessions won, plus 22 successful final third passes that kept Braga on the front foot.
Because he repeatedly received between the lines and mixed crosses with sharp dribbles (three successful), his movements unsettled the Leões and ensured Braga carried a threat right to the end.
Braga remain fourth in Liga Portugal. They visit Ferencváros in the Europa League next. The Leões travel to Bodø/Glimt in the Champions League.
