Statute reform: Voz Corinthiana group meets with members and councillors

In September, the Coletivo Voz Corinthiana met with the president of the Corinthians Deliberative Council, Romeu Tuma Júnior, and presented—along with suggestions from various fans—proposals for the reform of the club’s bylaws. Last Thursday, October 23, the group met with members and councilors of the Alvinegro, as announced on social media last Friday (24).

In a statement released by Coletivo Voz Corinthiana, the group details that the meeting with Corinthians members and councilors took place with the intention of presenting all the proposals for the reform of the bylaws, aiming to seek their support: “The objective was to present our detailed proposals for the reform of the Bylaws and to start a dialogue of persuasion regarding the points we believe are key to the modernization and professionalization of the club.”

The document with the proposals for the reform of the Corinthians bylaws has already been completed, but it has not yet been released to fans and the press. In a press conference held in recent weeks, Romeu Tuma Jr presented the reform’s timeline and emphasized that the idea is for it to be voted on by the end of this year, between November and December.

The proposal from Coletivo Voz Corinthiana is based on five pillars: professionalization, morality and impartiality, decentralization and participation, accountability, and alternation of power. In addition, the project aims to broaden fan participation, build internal control tools, structure governance, and limit the idea of SAF.

Last night, October 23, and also last week, Coletivo Voz Corinthiana held online meetings with Corinthians councilors and members. The objective was to present our detailed proposals for the reform of the Bylaws and to start a dialogue of persuasion regarding the points we believe are key to the modernization and professionalization of the club.

Although the president of the Council, Romeu Tuma Jr., has not yet presented the final text that will go to a vote, we believe that explaining the critical points is fundamental for us to have a true reform. Therefore, the process now enters a decisive phase of political persuasion and fan pressure, so that the councilors approve the changes that will be beneficial for Corinthians.

We reaffirm that Coletivo Voz Corinthiana has no political ties with councilors or slates. Our work is “from the outside in,” supported by a form answered by the fans, by the legal framework, and by a PhD in Football Governance from USP.

The presence of councilors from different political groups at the meetings, alongside members without positions, reinforces our independence and exclusive focus on the debate of ideas for the good of the club.

Our only objective is the best and deepest possible reform of the Bylaws, and this naturally involves approval by the Deliberative Council before going to the General Assembly of members.

We will continue to dialogue with everyone to ensure that the voice of the fan is heard.
