Despite recent reports, Sunderland have no plans to part ways with Régis Le Bris at the end of the season should he fail to guide them to European football, according to a report from Fabrizio Romano. Recent reports suggested that the Frenchman’s job could be in danger should the Black Cats not qualify for European competition.
The former Lorient head coach was applauded last season as he guided the Wearside outfit to an unlikely promotion from the EFL Championship through the playoffs, with the crowning moment coming in the final against Sheffield United. Sunderland have continued on an upward trajectory in their first season back in the Premier League, as they currently sit 11th.
The French manager’s job is considered safe with the North Eastern club planning for next season with him still in charge. Sunderland’s safety has already been confirmed, with an outside chance of qualifying for Europe still on the table.
