Sunderland could miss out on Tammy Abraham and Sidiki Cherif this month, with Aston Villa and Crystal Palace now in the frame.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Abraham is open to joining Villa and personal terms are not an issue, with Villa working on a new striker after Donyell Malen left for AS Roma, and no agreement yet with Besiktas. RMC Sports adds that Palace have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Angers prospect Cherif.
Abraham, on loan at Besiktas from Roma, has scored 12 goals in 24 appearances this season and was speculatively linked with Sunderland. Roma are understood to be open to an England return for the 28-year-old, and the Black Cats were mentioned as a possible destination. He previously hit 26 in 40 during a loan at Villa Park.
Any deal would require Roma to end his Besiktas loan first. If that is resolved, the player is thought to favour a move to the Midlands.
Palace’s move for Cherif would also represent a blow to Sunderland, who have admired the 19-year-old alongside Newcastle United. The Angers academy product has 4 goals in 17 Ligue 1 outings, with AC Milan and Stuttgart also credited with interest.
Sunderland are yet to make a signing this window, though Regis Le Bris remains calm over recruitment as links to forwards continue.
