Sunderland could revisit a move for Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu this summer.
Football Insider suggests the Black Cats could reignite their pursuit as Leicester aim to raise funds and reduce costs. Fatawu is among players who could be moved on.
The winger is viewed as ready to return to the Premier League and could offer more in wide areas than Sunderland’s current options. His deal contains a £30m release clause.
The report adds Sunderland may allow Romaine Mundle to depart if they manage to land Fatawu.
The speculation follows Leicester’s recent financial update. After a £71.1m loss for 2024-25, chief executive Kevin Davies said there is work to do to strengthen the club’s finances, noting staff costs fell to their lowest level since 2017-18 and that the timing of player-trading profits and the absence of one-off income affected the result. He added that improving the financial position remains a priority and will shape decisions.
